I came across this poem that my little sister and I came up with a few years ago (I think she was about 8 or 9 at the time). I thought you might find it interesting to see what kind of profound poetry we come up with, and I haven’t posted in a while so this gave me something to post. 😛
We gave ourselves the rule that every line had to rhyme with shoe.
Alright, here it is!
There is gum on my shoe
The color of blue
Ever since I was two
I’ve loved the color blue
But I don’t like blue when it’s gum on my shoe
I like the blue dress worn by Mary-Sue
And the blue ribbon in the hair of Suzy-lu
I like the color of the sky too
But I don’t like blue when it’s gum on my shoe
I like the blue of the peacocks at the zoo
And the blue of my sister’s toy cow that says moo
And my cousin’s blue kazoo
But I don’t like blue when it’s gum on my shoe
I play with blue goo
And have a blue toy igloo
When I do crafts, I use special blue glue
But I don’t like blue when it’s gum on my shoe
If it’s a hint I need, I look for a blue clue
I only use blue band-aids when I get a boo-boo
And my favorite toy is my blue chu-chu
But I don’t like blue when it’s gum on my shoe
I play a blue trumpet that goes badoo, badoo
I wish that blue was the color of the grass and the dew
Blue gum is my favorite to chew
But I don’t like blue when it’s gum on my shoe
Who would get rid of gum that is blue?
It’s such a waste stuck to my shoe
I’ll stick it in a napkin that’s the perfect hue
It’s a match—it’s blue too
Yep, it’s totally ridiculous. 😀
