A few days ago I was nominated to take part in a little challenge I’d never heard of called…. Well I’m sure you’ve read the title.
3 days. 3 quotes. 3 nominees. And keeping in theme…only three rules…
- Thank the person who nominated you.
- Post a quote for three consecutive days (one quote per day).
- Nominate three bloggers each day
Super simple. I love simple. 🙂
So, I’d like to thank Ultimate Librophile
Quote
Fairytales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that they tell us that dragons can be beaten. –G.K. Chesterton
(This is G.K. Chesterton who wrote poems, plays, newspaper essays, and books of different genres. The guy was busy!)
I love this quote because it explains why fiction is so important. It’s more than entertainment; It is a lesson, an encouragement. It is real life questions, uncertainties, and fears presented in an artistic, easy to understand way. We all face our “dragons,” but because of fairy tales, we know they can be beaten.
Keeping with the theme of this first quote, my next two quotes will be from fictional characters. Gandalf and Dumbledore had some profound wisdom to impart. Those fictional characters can say some deep stuff! 🙂
Stay tuned!
Oh, and I almost forgot…the nominees!
I nominate…
Have fun!

Thank you for the nomination.

Hey!
Beautiful quotation!
I couldn’t agree more. With the quote or your interpretation of it.
I love the idea of writing quotes from fictional characters.
All the best!

It’s one of my favorite quotes. It reminds me that fiction isn’t just entertainment, and it isn’t (as some might think) a waste of time. There are valuable lessons in every story.
Thanks for letting me in on the challenge!

Ooh, I’ve seen this quote arounf, but I had no idea he wrote it. I have it as my lockscreen at the moment. It’s a lovely quote, because honestly, that IS exactly what fantasy is ❤ (Unless it's a Game of Thrones, in which case it tells us that everyone is going to die xD)

I love this quote. It inspires me to view the things I write as more than just entertainment, but, well…inspiration. 🙂 I want to put it somewhere I can see it often (lock screen is a great idea!) Pinning it on my pinterest board doesn’t count. 😛

Hey, Megan! This is one of my favorite quotes, and I love G. K. Chesterton’s writings. In fact, he is one of only a couple of novelists whom I have not been able to predict the ending to his books. I would highly suggest his novels (the first book of his that I read was The Man Who Was Thursday.) He was also a strong Christian and a good friend of C. S. Lewis.

You know, I’ve never read any of his books. I’ll have to add them to my mammoth reading list. There are too many books in the world! (Wait, did I just say that?! I take it back!)
I’ve been wanting to read his Father Brown stories since I was little and heard a radio drama based on them.
What! I didn’t know he was a friend of C.S. Lewis. How did I not know that?

Yeah, I have a giant reading list, too (which is why I have only read one of his books so far.)
Isn’t that cool!? I don’t believe he was one of the Inklings, though.
