New Stuff for the New Year

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a fantastic celebration last night.

I have a few things planned for this blog this year, and I thought I’d let you in on it.  (But it’s a secret, so don’t tell anyone)  😉

First of all, I have a few more L.C. Detective stories that will be posted in the next few weeks.  I’m excited to post these because this will be the first time something I’ve written has its very own illustration to go with it!   They are illustrated by February St who did a wonderful job and was a pleasure to work with.  Anyone looking for artwork for their blog should check her out!

Haven’t heard of L.C.?  Here’s a quick introduction.

L.C. Detective

—–

Spunky, nosy, and opinionated—the perfect combination for trouble.  L.C. has all three.  The young detective never misses an opportunity to follow suspects and gather evidence, even if that means sneaking out of the house or skipping school.  Nothing is more important than keeping the neighborhood safe right?

L.C. will do anything to solve the mystery even if that  means dragging her sidekick Bobby into impossible situations.  Her over-active imagination keeps things interesting (sometimes she sees a case where there is none) but one thing is for sure if you stick with L.C. you’ll never be bored.

Then, in February, I have a series of themed pieces that I’ll be posting.  Since Valentine’s Day is celebrated in that month, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share these because they do have an element of romance to them.

Instead of trying to explain this one, I’ll just let the quotes speak for themselves.

A little taste from Black:  “Before we parted, he pulled out a scarlet handkerchief from his pocket and pressed it into my hand.  I was thrilled to have such a color touching my skin.”

A few words from Red: “The roses wilted and died, and all that was left were thorns which pricked my skin and drew glistening drops of crimson.  The color that held such allure was now my pain, my prison.”

From Blue: “But secrets can’t last forever.  My father saw me with the man of blue and flew into a rage.  My vision burned with his vivid red shirt as his fists taught me that red and blue never mixed.”

And just one more… 🙂

A quote from White:  “Some brave souls turned their eyes to my ruby lips, reddened cheeks, and burning red dress.  Their faces filled with revulsion.  I looked haughtily back at them, but inside I was disgraced.  The color of violence, the color of lust: that was my color.”

They can be read in any order.  The only thing they have in common is that they take place in a world where the color worn depicts social groups.  Getting in with the wrong color could be dangerous.

I can’t wait to share these!

The last thing I wanted to share is just an idea.  I was thinking about doing something a little different this summer and write an adventure fantasy where you all get to make the decisions.  Part of the story would be posted every week, and you get to decided (by poll) what the main character does next.

Does that sound like fun?  Let me know what you think!
