I’m so glad that Nirvana tagged me in this fun Social Media Tag because it forced me to sit down and hash out some things about this story that’s been floating in my head as a vague idea for a weeks.
The rules are easy: copy down and answer the questions below (about your novel or story or anything along that line), then tag five of your writer friends to do it as well.
Twitter: Describe your plot in 140 characters or less.
It’s been forty years since the mark of Incessant has been seen. Until Nora. Resisting it’s evil will be her biggest challenge.
Facebook: With the parents/grandparents flooding this site, who is your oldest character?
The oldest character so far would be the leader of the cathedral who doesn’t like Nora and see the circular mark on her wrist as a threat.
An elderly man who plays a part in helping change Nora’s circumstance (I can’t give the details away. 😉 ) They are about the same age.
Instagram: What does one of your characters look like? #selfie (find the closest picture you can!)
And this is Nora: a very serious, loyal, driven girl who finds herself trapped in a world that shuns her.
WordPress: Designing your theme is the funnest part, so how would/did you design your book cover?
Tumblr: Naming your blog is so difficult! What did you name your book?
I’m pretty sure I’m going to call it Incessant which means, “continuing without interruption; ceaseless; unending.” The mark she was born with is a circle and a circle is unending. There is more to the name than that, but I can’t spoil it!
Spring.me: Get your weirdest questions answered. Ask your main character one weird question, and have that character answer.
Question: What is your biggest fear?
Nora: I carry my fear with me where ever I go. I can’t escape it.
The mark on my wrist is my biggest fear. I don’t know exactly what it means, but I do know it’s dangerous. The power this mark gives is evil. I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep it from coming through me.
I’m even more afraid, that if I use it, I’ll like it.
Pandora/Spotify: What kind of music are you playing whilst writing? If you don’t listen to music, what do you think your main character would listen to?
When I’m writing, I usually listen to movie soundtracks. Songs with lyrics distract me. If it’s a song I haven’t head, then I stop and listen to the words. If it’s a song I’ve heard before, I end up singing along. 🙂
My latest are Robin Hood, How to Train Your Dragon, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Myspace: All good things must come to an end! What is one book idea that you were really into, but lost interest in?
I started this story about girl in London, England in the 1800s. Her only family was her drunken father, and…. You know, instead of giving this boring detail, I’ll let you read a snippet.
I was eight years old when my life changed forever. It was the first snow of that winter. I didn’t see it; I felt it. It made its presents known by stinging my bare hands and face with icy droplets. The snow that fell on my closed eyelids seemed heavier than the rest; as if it were making sure that my eyes would never open again. It needn’t have bothered. Everything in my young body told me that this was my last night.
It was. In so many ways, it was.
(from the story I was going to call Mandie Ballard)
I lost interest because I have ADD when it comes to long stories. Once another one came into my head I started working on that one, and Mandie Ballard disappeared from my mind. Maybe I’ll go back to her one day.
